Artwork by four Martha’s Vineyard children will be part of the Steamship Authority’s 2027 calendar when it comes out in November.

The boat line recently announced the winners of its annual Sail Into Imagination calendar contest, open to children from Cape Cod and the Islands.

West Tisbury School fourth-graders Addison Seger and Lillianna Grillo, Chilmark School third-grader Boonraksa Montoya and Oak Bluffs School second-grader Rose Lopes were among the 15 winners for 2027.

Lillianna painted a towering Steamship Authority ferry against saturated blues of sea and sky, with a googly-eyed purple octopus popping up from the lower frame.

Addison’s ferry sails beneath the arch of a rainbow surrounded by stars, with a green Vineyard and the word Love hovering overhead.

In Boonraksa’s colorful drawing, a breaching whale greets the approaching ferry as groups of striped bass, flounder and other sea creatures swim below.

Rose also drew a whale, along with a jellyfish and a smiling crab, beneath the waves carrying her ferry to its Oak Bluffs slip.

A limited number of calendars will be available at Steamship Authority terminals in November, according to the announcement. The winning artwork is also posted online at bit.ly/2027SSAcalendar.

Children from schools in East Sandwich, Fairhaven, Falmouth, Nantucket and New Bedford, and two homeschooled Nantucket siblings, also have artwork featured in the calendar.

Each of the winners receives a $100 Steamship Authority gift card to use for travel, concessions or parking, and one more Island student, Emily Majkowski of West Tisbury School, won a $150 Visa gift card in a grand prize drawing that was open to everyone who entered the art contest.
