At last! 70 degree weather has reached Aquinnah for the season, and the lilacs are a pleasant aroma in the air.

Betsy wants to invite the community to the Windemere residents annual auction on Saturday, June 1st from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grange in West Tisbury. The funds raised will allow them to bring in musicians, dance and horticulture therapists, reiki practitioners and exercise instructors, as well as taking their residents out to concerts, plays, and other Island expeditions.

The Martha’s Vineyard Neighborhood Convention will meet on June 4 at 11 a.m. at the Chilmark Community Church, with the Yard providing a demonstration.

The Outermost Inn has opened for your dining pleasure for the season. The inn itself will not be open this year as other building is going on in the neighborhood.

Congratulations and all the best to Paul Henry Jeffers-Mayhew as he graduates from U-Mass Boston this week and heads off to grad school in the fall.

Congratulations as well to Ella Yvette Lombardo, on her graduation from Montclair High School in New Jersey. She is the oldest child of Jaclyn and Joseph Lombardo, who met at the old Feasts in Chilmark, and the granddaughter of Joyce and Mark Friedman of Aquinnah and Upper Montclair. She will be attending the University of Richmond in Virginia this coming fall. Since college is so expensive these days, her grandfather will be pleased to accept any contributions in her behalf from all on-Island friends and enemies, no discrimination here! In his clearly unbiased characterization of her, he declares she’s a “rare gem”!

Heather McQueen has arrived from Saint Andrews, Scotland to spend the summer with her daughter Laura Hart and son in law Sam, but especially to care for her four-month-old grandson, Alexander Stanley Hart.

Barry and Dorothy Sullivan have arrived for the summer at their Aquinnah home.
