Chilmark voters go the polls today to take action on two school spending questions and re-elect a selectman.
Polls opened at noon and will close at 6 p.m. at the Chilmark Community Center.
Voters enter via the ramp into the stage area, instead of the front door as usual. Face masks are required.
Running unopposed, incumbent selectman Warren Doty tops the ballot. There are no races for the nine other elected positions. There are currently no candidates for the positions of fence viewer and surveyor of wood, lumber and bark.
The ballot question asks voters to exempt two expenditures from the provisions of Proposition 2 1/2, one for $169,136 to pay for the town’s share of window replacement at the Chilmark School, and a second for $5,216 to pay the town’s share of replacing the dust collection system at the regional high school.
Town clerk Jennifer Christy said 37 voters had requested absentee ballots and 66 voters requested early ballots.
Turnout was light Wednesday on a sunny, cool June day.
