Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation announced this week that it has added 14 sites from the African American Heritage Trail of Martha’s Vineyard to the TrailsMV app, which provides mobile maps of more than 100 conservation properties around the Island.

“We’re pleased to be able to feature this important project,” foundation executive director Adam Moore said in a statement. “The African American Heritage Trail members have worked for years to research contributions made by people of African descent to the history of the island, and we’re honored to share them with TrailsMV users.”

A nonprofit community history organization dedicated to restoring, researching and celebrating the history of African American people on the Vineyard, the heritage trail has 31 stops around the Island. The group offers guided driving tours of the entire trail, with more information at mvafricanamericanheritagetrail.org.
