The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $756,500 for the business week ending on Friday, June 4, 2021. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions.
Much of the land bank revenue last week came from the town of Edgartown, where nine transactions resulted in $445,650. Two transactions earned $145,000 in West Tisbury. Two transactions generated $55,700 in Oak Bluffs. One transaction earned $55,000 in Chilmark. Two transactions resulted in $42,100 in Tisbury. And one transaction generated $13,050 in Aquinnah.
The land bank uses its revenues to purchase and manage land for purposes of conservation, preservation and passive recreation. To date the agency has participated in the purchase of more than 3,882 acres of Vineyard land.
