Tomorrow night's gibbous moon appears near the bright planet Jupiter. The two will appear low in the eastern sky soon after sunset but soon gain height as the evening progresses. The two are beneath the zodiacal constellation Aries.
Take a look again on Sunday night, the moon will have advanced along the zodiac and entered the constellation Taurus. The moon is under the large star cluster we all know as the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters. While the moon is so brilliant, you'll might need help with binoculars to find those stars so close to the moon. The closest bright star nearby is Aldebaran, the main star in that constellation.
The moon is full on Monday night. We call this moon the Bay Scallop moon, though in other parts of the country the moon is called the Beaver Moon.
