Art for sale, music and food: downtown Oak Bluffs will be transformed into a giant street fair Sunday when the 46th annual Tivoli Day takes place. More than 100 local vendors will line Circuit avenue for the daylong event.

The event was originally planned for Saturday, but was postponed due to the weather.

“It’s the celebration of the end of summer. The Islanders who live here are very happy to end the busy summer season,” said Billie Jean Sullivan, executive director of the Oak Bluffs Association, the town business association.

She said the festival is also an end-of-season chance for artists to showcase their work and put it on sale. And visitors who stroll the avenue will hear a variety of musical acts. Musicians will perform through the afternoon outside Rockland Trust, in Healey Square and in front of the Ritz.

“It’s changed over the years. It’s more about music and celebrating our town and closing the summer,” Ms. Sullivan said.

“It’s a great day. You get to see people you haven’t seen all summer and reconnect,” said Ms. Sullivan. “It’s very personal, it’s very fun, and it’s really community based. You feel like all your friends and family will be there.”
