A prominent Edgartown shopping plaza has changed hands to a familiar face in town.

The Hajjar family, which owns numerous properties in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs, late last month purchased the plaza on Upper Main Street that contains Al’s Package Store, Wicked Burger and Larry’s Tackle Shop.

The sale was registered with the county register of deeds last week, with Charles (Chuck) Hajjar and his son, also named Charles Hajjar, paying $5 million for the .88-acre property.

The younger Charles Hajjar confirmed the sale in an interview Wednesday, and said the family has no plans to change out the tenants, or make any grand changes to the property.

“They are all staying,” Mr. Hajjar said of the tenants.

This marks the second time the property has been sold in the last two years. The land and building was sold by the Look family in 2022 to a limited liability company linked to Todd Dagres, the co-founder and general partner of a Boston-based investment firm.

At the time, Al’s was also sold to Patrick Coogan.

Mr. Hajjar said the family was interested in buying the property because the family was already heavily invested in Edgartown real estate.

The family also owns the Christopher Inn, several parcels at the Post Office Square in Edgartown, the Black Dog building in Edgartown, the Lightkeeper’s Inn, the Sydney hotel and the Richard hotel. The family also owns or partially owns Ryan Family Amusement on Circuit avenue in Oak Bluffs, the former Ocean View restaurant property and other residential parcels.

The Upper Main Street plaza also has an office occupied by Donaroma’s and an apartment. The Hajjars plan to do a renovation to the facade of the building.

“We really take pride in ownership for everything we own,” Mr. Hajjar said.
