Calling all tree lovers: the Oak Bluffs tree stewards will meet on Saturday, Nov. 2, for their community fall tree planting. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Niantic Park, across the street from the Council on Aging on Wamsutta avenue. Teams will be formed for each of the parks: Niantic, Veira and Wesleyan plus Healey Square, where 10 bare-root trees will be planted.

Diggers, mulchers, waterers, stakers and refreshment givers are all needed. Bring your own garden gloves. The town tree stewards and parks commission will provide tools and materials. The goal is to have the trees planted by noon.

The event was previously planned for Oct. 26 but was postponed due to delivery delays.

The tree stewards organization is an outgrowth of the Oak Bluffs Climate and Energy Advisory Committee. For information, contact Peter Meleney at pmeleney@comcast.net.
