Antone M. (Tony) Martin Jr. of East Falmouth died suddenly on August 8 at the Falmouth Hospital. He was 78.

He was the loving husband of Carolyn C. (Correllus) Martin.

Born and raised in Falmouth, he was the son of the late Antone M. Martin Sr. and Helen (Rabesa) Martin. Tony was in the U. S. Army and served in Korea during the Korean War.

He worked for International Union of Operating Engineers local number 4. After retiring early, he worked with his son in an excavation and landscaping business known as M& M Bobcat Service Plus. He truly enjoyed working side by side with his son for over 25 years and helped create this business to what it is today and for the next generation.

Tony enjoyed shellfishing and hunting, gardening vegetables and flowers and to see things grow from seeds. He enjoyed country music and had been to Nashville and Branson several times. He was a proud man who loved God and country.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Debra Ann Martin of Onset and Susan M. Martin of East Falmouth; a son, Michael G. Martin and his wife Helen of East Falmouth; two grandchildren, Holly M. Martin of York, Pa., and Michael G. Martin, Jr. of E. Falmouth; a great-granddaughter, SydneyAnn Martin of York, Pa., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was brother of the late John Martin.

Visiting hours will be held today from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Falmouth. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, at St. Anthony’s Church in East Falmouth. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
