Edith (Mello) Tobin, 90, of Newington, Conn., and the Vineyard, beloved widow of Charles L. Tobin died Saturday, March 13.

She was born in Edgartown and maintained a home on the Vineyard all of her life, though she had lived in Newington for over 60 years. Edith was a registered nurse for over 50 years. She worked at Hartford Hospital and was a graduate of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church Newington. Edith was a lover of plants, gardening and cats. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Charles J. and Jane O. Tobin of Berlin, Conn. and several cousins in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

The family would like to thank all who participated in Edith’s care in her later years. The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Newington. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, March 16, at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home in Wethersfield, Conn.
