Beryl G. (Schelhorn) Frey, of Auburndale and Oak Bluffs, formerly of Garden City, N.Y., died Saturday, March 13, after a brave struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Loving wife, grandmother and devoted friend, Beryl was the embodiment of a Renaissance woman: gardener, painter, importer, caterer, writer and floral designer. She pursued each endeavor with passion and zeal. Beryl spent more than 40 summers in Oak Bluffs. She was a warmly regarded figure in and around the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association.
She will be missed by Walter, her husband of 53 years; her children Tabetha (Lee) and Karl (Lisa) and her five grandchildren, Kyla (Jen), Kaitlyn, Xavier, Aigneis and Augustine.
A celebration of Beryl’s life will be held Sunday, April 25 at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church in Wellesley. There also will be a remembrance held this summer on the Vineyard.
