Oak Bluffs Turns Holy Ghost Town
Hungry as a Holy Ghost? Then chow down this weekend at the Portuguese American Club on Vineyard avenue in Oak Bluffs. It’s a two day feast guaranteed to feed you body and soul. The sopa line begins Saturday night at 6 p.m. That’s a traditional Portuguese soup made with sausages, potatoes, kale and cabbage. The sopa may be king but there’s plenty of other food royalty to go around. Fried bread, shish kebabs, sweet bread, stew; they don’t call it a feast for nothing. If the spirit moves you, there will be music and dancing too.
On Sunday the parade begins at 11:15 a.m. at the Steamship Authority wharf in Oak Bluffs. Then it’s time for more feasting and family fun. It’s a community event not to be missed.
