The Rev. Robert J. Immelt of Edgartown died at his home on Friday evening, Jan. 30 surrounded by his family. He was 87.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Frye) Immelt; his son, Jay Immelt and daughter, Julie Wheeler; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Mark Immelt in 2007.

A memorial service was held in the Trinity United Methodist Church in the Camp Ground on Feb. 4, officiated by the Revs. Richard Rego and Susan Heafield.

Interment with military honors provided by the Veterans of Martha’s Vineyard will be private in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Bluffs.
