Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, Charlotte C. Averka-Russell, 62, formerly of South Orange, N.J., died on Feb. 18, 2009.
Charlotte was born in Lawrence, Mass., December 25, 1946, to William (deceased), and Wanda J. Averka. She attended Lawrence, Mass., public schools. Following high school, Charlotte attended Simmons College in Boston, where she earned a bachelor of science degree. After moving to New Jersey, she worked at several area hospitals as a registered nurse, most notably Hospital Center at Orange, (formerly Orange Memorial) in Orange, N.J., where she was director of infection control.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 40 years Robert S. Russell, sons Robert J. Russell and Jason A. Russell, and stepdaughter (she helped raised from age of six) Michelle B. Russell-Rae.
After retiring from her career in health care, she moved into their family home on Martha’s Vineyard for half the year and Longboat Key, Fla. the other half of the year with her mother, Wanda.
She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be sorely missed, especially by friends and family who attended her popular dinner parties featuring elaborate table-settings and gourmet cooking.
There will be a Celebration of Life in August 2009 at their home on Martha’s Vineyard for her many family and friends.
