After a courageous battle, Geraldine (“Geri”) Ann Correllus died Friday, Feb, 27, 2009 at the Falmouth Hospital. She was 75.
Geri was born September 14, 1933, the daughter of Antone and Gertrude (Lovell) Veira.
Geri was born and raised in Oak Bluffs and graduated from the Oak Bluffs High School in 1951. In December of the same year she wed her high school sweetheart, Bill, and they embarked on 21 years of adventure while he served in the United States Air Force. Their service to our country took them across the U.S. as well as overseas, where together with their six children they embarked on one adventure after another.
Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1972, they returned to the Vineyard where they took ownership of the family business, Tony’s Market. Together they worked hard, turning it into the successful business it was when it was sold in 1992.
Geri was the beloved wife of William M. Correllus for 57 years. She will forever be remembered by her devoted children, William and Deborah Correllus of Merritt Island, Fla.; Patti and Raymond Leighton of Oak Bluffs; Robert and Lynne Correllus of Attleboro; Barbara and Brett Leonard of Vineyard Haven; Brenda and J. Aaron Goodwin of Aurora, Mo.; and Rudolfo (“Rudy”) Roehrig of Londrina, Brazil. She was predeceased by her son Barry Correllus. She leaves behind her 14 treasured grandchildren, Sarah and Katherine Correllus; Tony, Brian, and Josh Correllus; Pam Baughman, Brett and Jenna Leighton; John and Amanda Correllus; Kelly and Kent Leonard; Paige and Emma Goodwin; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Brady Correllus. She is also survived by her sister Jacqueline Kinnecom of Colorado Springs, Colo., a daughter in law Molly Correllus, along with nine nieces and nephews and countless other friends and family who were blessed to know her.
Geri touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her positive outlook all the way to the end.
The memorial service will be held March 12th at 11am at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Oak Bluffs, followed by burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Vineyard avenue.
