Robert M. Guenter of West Hartford, Conn., died on Sunday, April 26 of renal failure following an illness of several months. He was 87. Robert moved to Edgartown with his parents in 1938; the family had been seasonal residents for many years before that. He completed high school in Edgartown, and after graduating from Wentworth Institute he moved to Hartford to begin his career as a draftsman. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney and by Combustion Engineering for a number of years, retiring in 1991. Although in poor health, he remained busy building model boats; he was also an avid history buff.
He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Buntin of Washington, Va., and a niece, Nancy E. Buntin of Leesburg, Va.
A graveside service was held on April 30 with interment in the Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford alongside his parents.
