Leslie Baker Exhibit

Leslie Baker: Landscapes and Studies is the name of the spotlight solo show that opened July 23 and will continue through August 6 at the Shaw Cramer Gallery at 56 Main street in Vineyard Haven. Ms. Baker is an Island artist, and, having taught at the college level, is accomplished working in a variety of mediums and subjects. This includes oil on canvas, watercolor, drawing and monotypes of landscapes, still lifes, portraits and book illustrations.

Ms. Baker says, “I find I am tending more and more to distill my images using my memory of a place. Sometimes the paintings are more improvised as I find I am thinking more about what I feel about what I see, rather than what I see. But the lure of representation is still there, a temptress very hard to break free of.”

The Shaw Cramer Gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
