Albion G. Hart of Oak Bluffs died peacefully at home on Dec 3. He was 101 years old.

Albion was born April 9, 1908 in Hingham, the son of William A. and Annie Minikin Hart. He was predeceased by his wife, Cora Ripley, and his son, Albion (Pete) Hart Jr. Surviving are a daughter in law, Virginia Hart; three grandchildren, Peter, Jonathan and Joanne; several great-grandchildren; niece Suzanne Warren; and nephews Chappell Cory of Oak Bluffs and Stephen Cory of Centerville.

He attended the schools in Fall River, Williston Academy and was graduated from Wesleyan University in 1932. He received a master of arts degree in school administration from New York University in 1978.

His professional experiences included teaching in Metuchen and East Orange, N.J., and Whitingville at Lexington. He became assistant principal and director of guidance at Atlantic City High School; and high school principal, superintendent of schools in Atlantic City, N.J.

He retired in 1976. He and Cora moved to Florida, coming to the Camp Meeting Association in Oak Bluffs for the summer. In 1992 they moved to Oak Bluffs as year-round residents.

For 12 years Albion was the manager of the information booth at the foot of Circuit avenue. He was a member of the congregation of the Trinity United Methodist Church and served as lay leader, trustee and administrative board member. For many years he was a member of the board of directors of the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association and served as its treasurer.

Interment will be in the Oak Bluffs cemetery. Services, which are private, will be under the care of Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home.

He will be missed by family, friends, and many, many members of the community, and those who had the pleasure of talking to him on his Camp Ground porch.
