Condolences to the family and friends of Judith Snowden Costa. Our family relationships go back more than half a century when our fishing families were always socially together. Judy worked at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for thirty years, of which we worked together for more than a decade.

Congratulations to Nancy Leport, who has joined the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Center for Women’s Health as a certified nurse midwife.

Congratulations to Theresa A. Manning on her new position as the Youth Task Force Coordinator for Dukes County. Theresa began her duties this past week.

Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Peter Williamson, the former Oak Bluffs police chief. Jyl and I just saw Peter two weeks ago and had a great conversation with him as he and Judy were looking forward to their annual trip to Florida. For 10 years during the 1980s, we enjoyed dining together during lunch at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Those were power-packed times if one can imagine dining with Peter, Sheriff Christopher Look, occasionally Bob Carroll and Ed Redstone, the late Al Brickman, and the late Freddie Ferro. Those were incredible strategic planning sessions and a lot was accomplished from them. Peter was not a fan of the media and did not like to give any interviews if he could avoid them. It may be hard to believe but in forty-five years of driving, the only speeding ticket I ever received was overturned by Peter in district court. He was a treasure that many of us will miss.
