Thomas Dresser is pleased to announce the second printing of Tommy’s Tour of the Vineyard, his popular tour guide based on stories shared by tour bus drivers on their route around the Island. The material has been edited to make the book more readable and useful, but the essence remains the same: Mr. Dresser surveys the Vineyard from a variety of vantage points, including history, geography, social issues and humorous tales.

This second edition, recently revised by Tamar Russell of Sitka Creations, has 17 more pages than the original, a fold-out map of the Island and fresh, new photographs by Joyce Dresser. The cover picture is new, and the content has been formatted to make it user-friendly, with clear subsections for tourists who want to see the Island by car, as well as by bus.

As in the first edition, Tommy’s Tour includes a timeline of Vineyard history, characterizations of each Island town, a bit of local flora and fauna as well as a few original poems.

Printed on-Island by DaRosa’s, Tommy’s Tour of the Vineyard, revised in 2008, sells for $9.95 and is available in local bookstores and souvenir shops around the Island or on line at tomdresser@aol.com. Island Transport, the tour bus company, has endorsed Mr. Dresser’s efforts, naming him one of the “ambassadors” of the Vineyard.

This spring History Press published Mr. Dresser’s Mystery on the Vineyard, a nonfiction account of an unsolved murder in Oak Bluffs back in 1940.
