Christina Mason Johnson of New York city and Natick was wed Oct. 11 to Eric Douglas Smith at St. John on the Mountain Episcopal Church in Bernardsville, N.J. Rector Matthew Engelby performed the ceremony at 4 p.m., assisted by visiting Rev. Douglas E. Remer of Tampa, Fla. Alison Dunn of Natick was maid of honor and Brian Repetz was best man. The bride wore the same veil that her great-grandmother, Eleanor McCarter Young, wore at her wedding 90 years ago.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the house of her grandmother, Mary Young Mason, in Peapack, N.J.
The bride, 29, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Johnson 3rd of New York city. She is a graduate of Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Ct. and St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. She made her debut at the New York Junior Assemblies in 1997. She is a restaurant manager of the Framingham branch of John Harvard’s Brew House, a chain of Massachusetts-based restaurants. Her mother, Mary Mason Johnson, is the head of the physical education department at Village Community School in New York, where she teaches elementary students. Her father, Frank E. Johnson, is a wine journalist and president of Frank Johnson Selections, a wine importing firm in New York city. Her late grandmother, known professionally as Helena Edey, was a noted portrait painter and a longtime resident of Edgartown.
The bridegroom, 35, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Smith of Catasauqua, Pa. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University (where he and his wife met), and is now completing a licensure program to teach high school physical education. His father, now retired, is a decorated Viet Nam War veteran, and is the recipient of a Bronze Star and Four Purple Hearts.
He worked as a regional manager with the United States Postal Service in eastern Pennsylvania. His mother is a sales specialist for Yeager Supply, a distribution company of piping and plumbing accessories based in Reading, Pa.
The couple make their home in Natick, and have a Bernese mountain dog named McKinley.
