Robert Eugene Spear, 44, Was Builder, Landscaper
Robert Eugene Spear died suddenly from apparent heart problems on, Saturday, June 12. He was 44.
Born in Santa Ana, Calif., on Oct. 27, 1959, he was the son of a military family. His father was Capt. Jasper Spear and his mother, Claire F. Spear. He also lived in Seattle, Wash.; Yorktown, Va.; Bowie, Md., and Winthrop, Mass. He moved to Martha's Vineyard as a teenager and made the Island his final home. He was graduated from the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School and has since worked in a variety of construction and landscaping jobs but most recently had the pleasure of working at H.N. Hinckley and Sons Inc. in Vineyard Haven.
Bob is survived by his mother whom he adored, Claire F. Spear of North Summer street in Edgartown; his sister, Karin Commette of Easton; his brothers, Stephen of Bellingham, Wash., and William of Lakeville, and a large collection of close family and friends.
Visiting hours at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs were held June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. A cemetery service will be planned for later in the summer. Donations in his memory may be made to the Martha's Vineyard Boys' and Girls' Club, Edgartown, MA 02539.
