Editors, Vineyard Gazette:
Barbara Schlesinger’s letter on wind turbines, in the August 21 Gazette, deserves special consideration. After years of researching wind energy, including being certified to install them, and after listening to continuous stories of neighbors being antagonized living near these turbines, my views have changed.
Mrs. Schlesinger is just another victim. How far away must one be to not feel the impact of these turbines?
Well, that depends on the size of the tower and the size and design of the turbine.
I appreciate the desire to produce clean energy, so I recently installed the most powerful solar thermal collector in the world, for it’s size, right here at my home.
My neighbors do not even hear or see it. In addition to solar, there are several other clean energy producers we can install, all of which do not harass our neighbors.
Wind has its place, just not near any residential community.
