Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

Given the controversy over the Zoia property on Quitsa Pond, it was to be expected that Ken Iscol and others would write letters taking strong exception to architect David Handlin’s op-ed article of August 10. What was not to be expected were the sharp and wholly unsubstantiated attacks on Mr. Handlin that were made in most of the letters. Chilmark may well have serious land-use issues to wrestle with in the near future, but Mr. Handlin’s ability and integrity are not among them. In the interest of full disclosure, I should add that Mr. Handlin is a close friend and the architect of my beautiful 2,200-square foot house on Black Point Road.
