It was 70 years ago, on June 6, 1944, that Allied ships landed in Normandy in the D-Day invasion. Church bells tolled across the Island that day. We remember the brave servicemen who participated in that event. And we acknowledge contributions from Martha’s Vineyard toward D-Day, from practice invasions to a pipeline experiment to two ferries taken out of service for use during D-Day.
