Oil painter Jeanne Staples brings her own vision to Island art at her upcoming exhibit at the Granary Gallery in West Tisbury. Her work for this exhibit blends Island landscape, figurative painting and an installation piece, which was a collaborative work with woodworker Andy Palmer.
The collaborative piece, Mutoscope #114, explores the concept of the old-fashioned movie device. The artist uses 14 small paintings that work as a sort of flip book, which shows the revolving horses on the Flying Horses carousel in Oak Bluffs.
There will be an opening reception on Sunday, August 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery.
