The board of directors and the staff of the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard for the repair and painting work that’s being done at our shelter building in Edgartown. For the past three weekends Habitat volunteers under the direction of Lee Taberner have joined volunteers from the animal shelter to paint, reshingle, restore and do the many things that needed to done to the exterior of our venerable shelter building.

We would like to acknowledge the hard work and the spirit of good will that’s come from these weekend labors. This effort is Habitat for Humanity’s Brush of Kindness Program which was developed to reach out in their community and help those who could use the construction skills of Habitat’s volunteer network.

Although we have different missions, we’ve found that our end goals are not that dissimilar. Both the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard and Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard are dedicated to creating good, decent homes for their own Island constituencies.

There will be more work being done at the shelter building in the coming weeks and we can always use another set of hands. Both the shelter and Habitat for Humanity also offer year-round opportunities for volunteers regardless of your experience.

Please contact us if you’d like to help too.
