Here we are March and it did not come in like a lion. In fact it has been warm but a little breezy. How can we complain when it is being said we are having one of the warmest winters.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Dylan Burke and Sarah Lively who celebrated their day Feb. 28.

Welcome back to Tony, Erika and their girls Kassidy, Megan and Anna who were all in Florida on a month long vacation. They had a great time by the pool and doing all the things they could in the sun.

It is important for them to be back as they have to get the Dairy Queen open for the middle of March. I hope they got a lot of rest because there are a lot of people ready to restock their freezers with their treats.

As many did on Super Tuesday, I voted. I was among the majority of the voters as I was not exactly sure who I was voting for. I felt guilty feeling that way walking in, as when they asked me whether I was voting Republican or Democrat, I replied neither. Of course I made my choice but I stood in the booth a few minutes to make sure I made the right decision.

I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican because I like to vote on what I think is good for our country and hopefully lead us in the right direction. I chuckled after reading a post on my favorite site that said Canada is building a fence to stop the race towards the border if a certain candidate gets in. I laughed but thought it wasn’t a bad idea. Oh well what are we to do except hope we make the right decision.

The Edgartown Council on Aging (aka The Anchors) always has something going on. They have a new format for their newsletter that is great and I thought I would share some of the activities with those who don’t get it or know that they are able to go to different events. Every week there is something going on every day.

For example there are even activities at the Boys & Girls Club on Wednesdays from 10 to noon — shoot hoops, play Ping Pong, foosball, air hockey, carpet ball, and more. The club invites you to be a kid again. For more information, call Peter Lambos at 508-627-3303 or Wendy at 508-627-4368. And on Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m., an esteemed panel of lifelong town residents will discuss the unique experience of what it was like to grow up in Edgartown. Please call to sign up at 508-627-4368.

These are just a couple of things so if you are tired of the four walls check out these activities.

Send Edgartown news to kathleencase@comcast.net.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
