Carolyn (Lynne) Elaine Perry of Oak Bluffs died on March 10. She was 55.

Lynne was born on Jan. 13, 1961 in Stoughton, the daughter of Edward A. and Mary F. Perry. She grew up in West Bridgewater. Her schooling consisted of several different educational programs. She attended Raynham Elementary School, the Oak Bluffs Elementary School, and St. Colletta’s Day School in Braintree. Lynne also completed confirmation class and was confirmed at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brockton. After completing her schooling she went on to participate in an assisted work program in Brockton.

In 1984 Lynne moved to the Vineyard. In 1988 she joined Vineyard Support. Through the Vineyard Support Program, Lynne held many jobs. She enjoyed her time cleaning at Chilmark Chocolates, filling pots at Donaroma’s, washing dishes at the Tisbury Inn Cafe and folding towels for the Island Inn and Katama Shore Condominiums. Lynne enjoyed her independence walking through downtown Vineyard Haven, having lunch and going shopping. In later years, she also spent time at Anchors.

More than anything, Lynne enjoyed being at home. In 1998 she moved into her own home, where she received care and companionship from many housemates. Her last housemate of 12 years was Shelly Witcher, whom she loved as a sister. Coloring and drawing were Lynne’s favorite pastimes. She also loved her large doll collection and couldn’t have too many outfits or accessories for her “babies.” She also enjoyed crocheting hats and scarves.

Lynne looked forward to every holiday, her favorite being Christmas. She enjoyed a visit from Santa in December, which was the highlight of her year.

She was predeceased by her father, Edward A. Perry. Lynne leaves behind her mother Mary F. Perry of Edgartown; two brothers and a sister: Robert E. Perry of Oak Bluffs and his wife Tammy, Daniel E. Perry of Oak Bluffs and his wife Lori and Nancy Perry of Edgartown; six nephews, three nieces, three great nephews and three great nieces; her Aunt Shirley Battista; and her beloved Uncle David and Aunt Diane Perry of West Bridgewater.

Lynne also leaves behind an additional family she knew through Vineyard Support, Anchors, and Seven Hills. On behalf of Lynne’s family, a special thanks is extended for all the love, care and support that was given.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chapman, Cole, and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.

A church service will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at The First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Main Street in Brockton, followed by interment at the Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater. A reception memorial celebrating Lynne’s life will be held back at the church afterward.
