Well it was cold, now it is warm, and we are all wondering why we have colds. It certainly has been a strange beginning of winter.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week.
I don’t think there were too many unhappy people this weekend. There were plenty of people here. Town was hopping and people were seeing friends they had not seen all summer and loving the reunions.
Donaroma’s Evening of Enchantment was a bright and shining start to the weekend. Most questions were: how long does it take to get all this ready? The answer is we start in October with the pergola, which takes 30,000 lights. Then it goes in spurts depending on the weather.
But it is all worth it when everyone comes in and they are happy. We had constant lines this weekend and when all was said and done we had a lot of people go through.
After we closed I went down to the Wharf to catch up with my family, and it was like old home week. We were in the back room and so were a lot of other Islanders. It was a great night to catch up.
It was great to see the home of Harry and Judy Stotz lit up for the weekend. They always come this weekend to light up their house for Christmas, and Judy was happy to be here.
Gislaine Donaroma was the guest of honor Tuesday for her baby shower (at where else but the Garden Store in all its grandeur of Christmas) to welcome her and Jeff’s first child, a girl, who is due in January.
It does not seem possible but Christmas is so close. I am wishing you all a wonderful and Merry Christmas now, because the schedules in the coming weeks are crazy and I don’t want to miss the chance to say thank you for reading this column. I love all my reviews and I love hearing from all of you and meeting new people through it.
Remember those who are not as fortunate as we are, and the elderly as they may need a smile or a phone call just to let them know that they matter and that they are thought of.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
