Lollapalooza takes place this year in Chicago during the first week of August. Arcade Fire will be there. So will Slander and Slushii. And maybe you will be too. But if you can’t get away, maybe it’s time to look for an alternative Palooza event. Something closer to home, perhaps, happening this weekend and involving a lot of sheep. Welcome to Sheepapalooza, 2017. The nearly all day event takes place on April 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Farm Institute on Katama.

There will sheep shearing, new lambs, sheep dog demos, local food (mutton anyone?), wagon rides, plus the ancient rites of fiber arts including spinning, weaving, dyeing, felting and knitting. That’s right, all the same activities you enjoy at Lollapapalooza, but with wool instead of music. The Farm Institute is located at 14 Aero avenue in Edgartown.
