National Fossil Day is here again and thankfully on the Vineyard there is Fossil Fred to help celebrate and educate.

Fossil Fred, also known as Fred Hotchkiss, is the director of the Marine and Paleobiological Research Institute. In addition to his knowledge he is bringing his private collection to the Oak Bluffs Library on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 4 to 7:45 p.m. There will also be many other official guest presenters available for discussion.

The event is BYOF (bring your own fossil), which could mean bringing along grandpa or sharing your own collection of specimens.

Come out and celebrate on the day when old is cool and history rocks, literally.
