Just checked the temperature and it said 29 degrees feels like 13 degrees. We have been in this freeze for just a couple of days after being spoiled with the nice warm weather over last weekend. But I am hearing temperatures are going to rise this weekend. So we will see.

I heard someone say that maybe we should start the New Year on Feb. 1. It certainly has not been a good beginning of 2018. We have in a few short weeks lost so many good people. Be them friends, relatives, spouses, children, it does not matter, we are all in mourning.

It always makes you think how precious life really is and how we have to live it to the fullest. I have said it before and I will say it again, never go to bed angry, tell your loved one you love them at least once a day as you never know what is going to happen once that door closes.

If you see a cloud of dust over the school it is just me cleaning the corners of my house that do not get any attention during the busy summer. It is amazing how aware you become of things when you are standing and talking to someone and you hope they don’t notice that big old cobweb over their head. Then when you see them you wonder where that darn spider is that made it. My houseplants are actually starting to look a little healthier, not that I am actually watering them and of course talking to them.

Are you seeking natural ways to improve your health and personal care routine, reduce the toxic load in your home, or elevate your emotional well-being? Join the staff at the Edgartown Library for an informal and informative session with Galen Brew to learn the basics about essential oils and how they support health and wellness. All adults welcome. The course will be held Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. the return of the libraries monthly crockpot cooking series begins with a French bistro staple, coq au vin. Who can resist the aroma of a plump chicken slow-cooking in a sauce of mushrooms, onion, and red wine? They will have a demonstration of the cooking technique and you will get to sample the delicious results.

The library has many activities and some movie nights on Wednesdays. If you are interested you can call or look up their website. It sure can fill in some long days.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
