Another wintry storm on Monday evening into Tuesday with less than two inches of snow in most places. The temperatures are below freezing. Let’s see what Punxsutawney Phil has to say today and let’s hope he does not see his shadow. Wonder where he resides most of the year? No matter, Chilmark Chocolates will reopen on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Never too early to buy your Valentine’s Day candy.

At the Aquinnah Public Library this week, on Tuesday the after school club meets at 4 p.m. On Thursday it is story time at 3:30 p.m. and at 5 p.m. kids dinner and a movie.

Democrats in Aquinnah will hold a caucus at the town hall to elect delegates to the 2018 Massachusetts Democratic convention. The caucus is from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., residents can register to vote, or change their party affiliation. Juanita Cook Cram and her daughter Jennifer Roman returned to their homes in Taunton, after visiting here with Janice Sylvia for the services for Jake Baird.

Janice Sylvia, Juanita Cram, and Chester Cook were all raised in Gay Head, the children of the late George B. Cook Sr. and the late Wilhelmina Madison Cook.

Congratulations to Paul Henry Jeffers-Mayhew for being on the dean’s list at University of Massachusetts at Boston. Paul Henry is a junior.

Condolences to the family and friends of Stephen Pollan, who died in Manhattan on Jan. 23. The Pollan family have been longtime summer residents of Aquinnah since their children were toddlers and now the next generation continues their summer sojourn at Dogfish Bar.

Happy Birthday wishes this week to Trisha Haskell who parties on Feb. 3, as does Janet (RO) Belain. Keith Emin celebrates on Feb. 4 along with Laurie Thompson. Wesley Cottle will observe his special day on Feb. 5 and shares the day with John Born. Hellie Neumann will party on Feb. 6, as will Darrel Razdow. John Nelson celebrates on Feb. 9.
