Kids 13 and under (accompanied by an adult) will receive free admission for all Martha’s Vineyard Sharks games this season thanks to a sponsorship from Vineyard Vines, according to Russ Curran, general manager of the Sharks. Single game tickets in previous seasons cost $5 for kids 13 and under and $7 for adults.
“We wanted to make an affordable night out for the whole family,” Mr. Curran told the Gazette.
Vineyard Vines has worked with the Sharks on several projects over the last couple of years, including sponsoring installation of a new infield in late 2015. In addition to the free tickets, Vineyard Vines will start selling official Sharks gear in Island locations and online.
Free tickets for kids isn’t the only thing Sharks fans can look forward to this season. A new kids zone with a bounce house and on-field games every half-inning will help keep younger children occupied throughout the games. Sharks fans will also be able to download an MV Sharks mobile app where they can purchase tickets and watch live streams of games from Youtube and Facebook Live.
Mr. Curran said that the Sharks are still looking for Island residents to host the 35 players, affectionately referred to as “summer sons,” for the season. He added that the only requirement is an “empty bed.” Those interested can reach Mr. Curran by sending an email to russ.curran@mvsharks.com.
The Sharks will kick off the season May 31 at 6:30 p.m.
