A thin crescent moon shows up low in the southwestern sky on Wednesday night. The moon is in close proximity to the bright planet Venus. The two are only visible for a short time, before they both set. The two are in the zodiacal constellation Virgo.
By Thursday night, the moon has moved far enough along in the zodiac to appear near the bright planet Jupiter, now in the zodiacal constellation Libra.
To have Jupiter and Venus in the southwestern sky is a treat. To have the moon move along adds so much to our late summer night time scene.
Stay tuned. The moon visits with Saturn and Mars the following week.
