West Tisbury police announced Monday morning that Daniel Gouldrup, a longtime officer with the town, had died at home of apparent natural causes.
Daniel Gouldrup was 59, police chief Matthew Mincone said in a press release Monday morning. Officer Gouldrup had served in West Tisbury for more than three decades, the chief said, and was most recently assigned to the Martha’s Vineyard Airport.
“It has been an honor and privilege to have served with Officer Gouldrup,” Chief Mincone said. “His passing comes as an unexpected shock to the department as we begin to mourn his loss.”
Assistant airport manager Geoffrey Freeman told the Gazette Monday morning that the airport staff was also shocked and saddened by the news. He said Officer Gouldrup provided security at the airport almost daily for years.
“We’re a very close-knit airport. We’re all pretty devastated to hear this news,” Mr. Freeman said. “He was just part of the team, part of the family, always there to lend a hand.”
