Leo Driscoll Jr., 72, Was Print Company President

Leo Charles Driscoll Jr. of Edgartown and Naples, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was 72 years old.

Leo was born in Dorchester, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo C. Driscoll. His father was the former fire chief for the city of Boston.

Leo was graduated from Cathedral High School, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He later was graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in business.

In June 1995 he retired from Cranston Print Works after many years as president of the V.I.P. division in New York city. After retirement, Leo served on the board of directors for Simplicity Pattern Company in New York.

Leo volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in Naples and on the Vineyard. He was a former member of Arcola Golf Club in Paramus, N.J., and a member of Wyndemere Country Club in Naples and the Edgartown Golf Club. Leo was instrumental in fundraising for the Martha's Vineyard Hospital building fund, was an avid Red Sox fan and participated in the Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie (Langley); three sons, Leo C. Driscoll 3rd of Ridgefield, Conn., Kevin P. Driscoll of Aberdeen, N.J., and John C. Driscoll of Vernon, N.J.; a daughter, Jill Collins of Snowmass Village, Colo.; two sisters, Ann Oteri and Kathy Heiler, both of Norwell; nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carol, in 1987 and by his sister, Dorothy Keating of Scituate.

His Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Oak Bluffs on Saturday, Dec. 10. Interment followed at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown.
