William W. Hickie, 81, Was Hingham Firefighter

William Wesley Hickie of West Tisbury died at Boston Medical Center on Feb. 12. He was 81.

Mr. Hickie was born in Cambridge on July 14, 1924, the son of the late Wesley Kinsman and Katherine (Davies) Hickie. He was educated in Brighton and attended Norfolk County Agricultural School.

He spent many years as a resident of Hingham and was employed as a firefighter for the town for more than 30 years, retiring in 1980. He worked as superintendent of fire alarms.

He was a member of the Old Colony Masonic AF & AM Lodge in Hingham and was a member of the Square Club of Hingham. He was also a member of the Signal Men's Association of Massachusetts.

Mr. Hickie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Harriet D. (Greene) Hickie of West Tisbury; a son, Thomas L. Hickie of Marshfield; a daughter, Kathleen Glinos of Plymouth; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation will take place at Duxbury Cemetery in Duxbury.
