Wallace Marden, 74, Was Wampanoag Tribal Member
Wallace C. Marden of New Bedford died Sept. 4 at home after a long illness. He was 74.
Born in Aquinnah, the son of the late Willard M. and Agnes May (Jeffers) Marden, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah). He enjoyed watching wrestling.
He is survived by two daughters, Louann Molleo and Theresa Marden, both of New Bedford; four brothers, Willard Marden Jr. of Teaticket, and Herbert Marden, Leroy Marden and Lloyd Marden, all of New Bedford; a sister, Anna Monteiro of New Bedford; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Stanley Marden, William Marden, Marshall Marden, Robert Marden, Donald Marden and Richard Marden.
His funeral service was held on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals in New Bedford. Interment followed in Rural Cemetery. For online condolence book please visit saundersdwyer.com.
