Charles L. Leland, 94, Served as Town Selectman

Charles L. Leland, 94, of Bridgewater, died Dec. 9 at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton.

He was the husband of Virginia R. Parker Leland for 41 years.

He was born Dec. 6, 1912, in East Bridgewater, to Arthur and Mabel Leland.

He graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1930 and attended Stockbridge College in Amherst.

Mr. Leland worked for the family business, Leland Farm, until 1965, when he went to work for A. R. Parker Co., also in East Bridgewater. He was deputy chief of the fire department and also served as selectman in that town.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Leland; his children, Leslie Leland of West Tisbury, Jack Leland of Coppell, Texas, Judy Andrews of Buzzards Bay, and Scott Leland of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was the former husband of Marjorie Leslie Berry of Buzzards Bay. He was also the father of the late Charles L. Leland Jr. and Steven Leland.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.
