Robert W. Dixon, 57, a long-time resident of West Hempstead, N.Y., died May 24.

Bob was taken from his family and friends in a tragic event while overseeing the startup of a television studio in Lagos, Nigeria.

He was graduated from West Hempstead High School and attended Howard University where he majored in history. He was known to family and friends as RW.

The television and movie industries were his passion. Recently he was asked by a production company in Nigeria to design a studio intended for Nigerian domestic and international distribution television. He was asked to then train individuals how to operate the studio and all the components of producing a quality cable television program. It was while working on this project that he died.

He was predeceased by his father, Frank T. Dixon 3rd.

Survivors include his wife Linda; his mother Betty Ann; his grandmother Robbie; his brothers Michael and Frank; his sisters Shawne and Carol; his daughters Leah and India; his granddaughters Jordan and Annie; his nieces Alexa, Jada, Mercedes, A'Lelia, Kristen, and Kara; and his nephews Kevin, Frankie, and David. He also leaves behind so many amazing and beloved friends he made throughout his many journeys in life.
