Mrs. Georgiana B. Kurth, 91, died August 24 at The Bayberry House, Hyannis where she was a resident.
She was the wife of Conrad G. Kurth who predeceased her. She was born in Queens, N.Y., on Oct. 11, 1915 to George and Blandina Kneff Ackermann. She was raised in Richmond Hill.
Mrs. Kurth lived in New York with her husband and her 10 children until 1956. The family moved to the Vineyard and her eleventh child, David, was born here.
Besides raising her family, Mrs. Kurth was active in the American Legion Post 257 Auxiliary, serving as past president. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church, Vineyard Haven and served as president of the St. Augustine's Guild. She was also secretary to Dr. Claydon at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital for several years. In her last years she was lovingly cared for by Ann Dobriante.
Survivors include her children, Conrad and his wife Sara of Edgartown, Pamela and her husband Tom Zimmer of New York, Jeffery and his wife Ann of Chilmark, Mark of Vineyard Haven, Gary and his wife Beth of Watertown, Gregory and his wife Brenda of Vineyard Haven, Deborah and her husband Alex Searle of Sandwich, Arlene Hinckley of Centerville, Wendy and her husband Ron Winner of Hyannis and Wayne and his wife Gigi of Connecticut; 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Kurth was predeceased by her son David C. Kurth in 2000.
Her Mass of Christian Burial was held August 27 in St. Augustine's Church, Franklin street, Vineyard Haven followed by interment in Abel's Hill Cemetery, Chilmark.
