Bradford (Brad) Norton, a former construction supervisor at West Point Military Academy and a resident of New Windsor and Fishkill, N.Y., died Oct. 7 in Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He was 89.

Son of the late Benjamin and Anita Smith Norton, he was born Dec. 29, 1917 in Vineyard Haven.

He was married to the late Loraine Kaleel, whom he married on August 25, 1945 in St. Mary’s Church in Newburgh, N.Y. Loraine predeceased him in 2002.

Brad proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he earned the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He received an honorable discharge on Jan. 5, 1947.

Survivors include his children, Gary Norton of Cornwall, N.Y., Lorraine Blaszak of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and Kathy Sylvester of Beaver, Utah; his sister, Loraine Armitage of Vineyard Haven; his grandchildren, Mark, Dennis and Greg Norton, Shawn and Keith Blaszak and Jason Sylvester; and great-grandchildren, Kayla and Scott Sylvester.
