A Celebration of Life service honoring the memory of Julia Hurley Rollins is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Oak Bluffs. Julie died in Venice, Fla., on Dec. 17, 2007.
Julie was born on Oct. 14, 1934, in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Attorney Francis X. Hurley and Lucille Gibbons Hurley. After spending many summers on the Vineyard, the Hurley family moved to Oak Bluffs year-round. Julie graduated in 1953 from Oak Bluffs High School and completed her education at Fisher College in Boston.
Until recently, she and her husband summered on Pheasant Lane in Oak Bluffs while spending the winter months in Florida.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, John H. Rollins; her two children, Peter John Rollins of Camden, Me., and Jennifer Gail Larson of Zion, Ill.; four grandchildren, Erin, Ben, Juliana and Meghan; and two siblings, Patricia Hurley Alley of Oak Bluffs and Peter Gibbons Hurley of Wheaton, Ill.
All of Julie’s many friends are invited to attend the Mass of Celebration of Life, which will be said by the Rev. Michael Leonard of Chicago, a longtime friend of Julie’s family.
