Eleanor T. Norris of Marlboro Beach, Me., died Sept. 3 at the age of 87. She was born April 5, 1921 on the Vineyard, the daughter of Austin and Helen Tower.
She graduated from New England Music Conservatory of Rhode Island. Eleanor taught music to many students and grammar school in Ellsworth and Lamoine and also in Japan and Korea. She attended the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth and played the organ for many years, Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls, and the Family Bible Church, Ellsworth. She was a member of the Lamoine Grange and active in the Lamoine Historical Society.
She is survived by her sons, James Norris and his wife Cynthia, Barry Norris and his wife Susan, both of Lamoine, Me.; Peter Norris and his wife Robin of New Hampshire; Kevin Norris and his wife Virginia, of Florida; Jeff Norris and his wife Pam, of Connecticut; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James E. Norris Sr.; a sister, Marion Wiseman; brothers, Alden and Osborne Tower.
