Roland Dubois Grimm, philanthropist, friend and longtime resident of Key West, Fla., passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2008. He was 82.
Mr. Grimm was born in New Paltz, N.Y., graduated from Northwood School in Lake Placid, N.Y., and earned degrees from Yale University, class of 1950, and Columbia University. During World War II he served in combat with the 10th Armored Division in the European theatre.
His business career included employment in Boston, Mass., by Mass Financial Services, Fidelity Management & Research, and Endowment Management & Research, of which he was a founder and chief executive officer. He served as a board member of several institutions including The Boston Globe, Primerica Corporation, Jordan Trust and W.R. Grace.
His charitable activities involved trusteeship since 1968 at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind., The Huguenot Historical Society, New Paltz, N.Y., and The Lend A Hand Society, Boston.
He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn Doran, three children, Charlotte of Hilo, Hawaii, Howard of Vineyard Haven, Sarah of Middletown Springs, Vt. and three grandchildren, Jamie, Lucy and Winfield. He carries with him the love and memories of family and many friends.
