Hilda Fries Tilton of Provincetown and Vineyard Haven died Wednesday, March 11, at Seashore Point in Provincetown. She was 99.
Born in Delaware, she was the wife of the late Everett E. Tilton. A long-time Vineyard Haven resident, she was a retired retail clerk. Besides being very active in the Christ Methodist Church, she was also a Girl Scout leader, loved to bowl and enjoyed doing difficult crossword puzzles. Mrs. Tilton was a lifetime member of the West Tisbury Grange.
She is survived by her daughter Jane Crave, wife of John F. Crave, Jr. of Provincetown; grandson James Crave and wife, Jeanne Black Crave of Edgartown; stepgrandson, John F. Crave 3rd of Hyannis and stepgranddaughter Patricia Floyd of Dennis. Stepgreat-granddaughter Apryl Sarkinen and stepgreat-great-granddaughter Ashlee Sarkinen of Yarmouth, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive her. In 1946, her son, Robert Austin predeceased her.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday March 21, in the West Tisbury Cemetery. The Reverend Susan Heafield will officiate.
