Dr. Charles Phillip LeRoyer, 94, of Largo, Fla., died peacefully Tuesday, March 24, at Sabal Palms Health Care Center in Largo.

He was born in Winchester in 1914, attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Tufts College and Tufts University School of Medicine. Phil enlisted in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps serving as a Lieutenant from 1943 to 1946 and was in the Navy Reserves until 1953. For over 30 years he served as medical director at the Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford, Conn.

After retirement Phil and his wife, Katherine (Peggy) Kirk, moved to Largo, Fla. Phil was an avid birdwatcher and active member of the Clearwater Audubon Society, volunteering his time monitoring bald eagle nesting habitats on the west coast of Florida. Every summer Peggy and Phil would migrate north to East Chop where he spent much of his time birding, fishing and enjoying their many friends and family.

Predeceased by his wife, Peggy, he is survived by four children, daughter Ann and her husband, Richard, of Arlington, son Charlie and his wife Maria of Searsmont, Me., son Bill and his wife Pink of Edgartown and daughter Kate and her husband Jim of Freeport, Me.; two grandchildren, Jennifer LeRoyer Rouse and her husband Jackson of West Tisbury, and William LeRoyer Jr. of Georgetown; great-grandson Boden Rouse of West Tisbury, and four step-grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews.
